Artist Bio

I am Sydney Burmood. I am an artist and a designer. My artwork is influenced by surrealism and abstract works. Most of my work has to do with an altered realm such as daydreaming and other outer body experiences relating to the physicality being present but the mentality in different times, locations, and dimensions. I am also strongly influenced by nature and spirituality that I also include in works. I have been embodied as an artist since I was 12 years old and started drawing with graphite. I expanded my expertise to graphic design and digital art when I was 16 years old and having been using both my skills ever since. I make art because it makes me happy and I can push away the world and create anything my imagination can conjure up. The philosophy I have for art is that it is something tangible to capture thoughts and dreams and keep a record of the past that someone can look to in the future.

My predominate mediums are graphite and the adobe creative suite. I approach artwork by starting with a motivation or meaning behind what I am doing. Figuring out the message I am trying to convey and to what audience. A lot of my artwork talks about the psyche and what is happening in our minds that we cannot see. Also, what is going on in the world that we can see but it very surreal even though it is just life itself. I convey these messages in my art my doing abstract and surreal things, along with the color palette being very vibrant and use of many colors. I started big with my work talking about the universe and the mind which are vast and endless spaces. Works I am starting to work on now, and continuing into the future, are honing in more on narrower topic and bringing things down to Earth and into reality. Such things that may cause the psyche to become this surreal thing that is  out of control.
